One Summers Evening – Jane Brunning
Jane’s tapestry designs are derived from her simple drawings or water paintings, and she tries to create feeling and atmosphere in her weaving.
She imports nettle and hemp yarn from Nepal and mixes them with linen, silk and wool. She loves how these yarns create such an interesting texture on the surface when woven. This piece was woven with the technical decision that no matter what colour she was weaving at the time one strand of natural nettle yarn and one strand of pale blue dewing thread was included in very weft bundle.
For Jane, tapestry weaving is a meditative process.
