Dilys McCaffery – Handweaver

Dilys McCaffery is a handweaver with a long-standing connection to Farfield Mill, having been part of the creative community here since the Mill first opened to the public.

For many years, Dilys was a member of the Weaving Friends, helping to keep traditional weaving skills alive through making, demonstrating and sharing her knowledge with visitors to the Mill. Her practice reflects a deep understanding of yarn, colour and the structures that can be created through handweaving.

Working at the loom, Dilys creates individually handwoven pieces that celebrate the qualities of the yarn and the rhythm and tradition of the weaving process. Her work is also part of Farfield Mill’s continuing story – connecting the building’s textile heritage with the skills of contemporary makers working here today.
