Isobelle Stothert – Artist

Isobelle Stothert

Isobelle Stothert is a weaver and textile artist based at Farfield Mill, creating distinctive handwoven jewellery using traditional weaving techniques on a small and intricate scale.

Her work draws inspiration from the natural world and from her travels, with the colours, landscapes, patterns and craft traditions of different places finding their way into her weaving.

For Isobelle, weaving is closely connected to place. While she works from her studio at Farfield Mill, she also takes her weaving outdoors, working beside the river and up on the surrounding fells. Making within the landscape allows her to observe its changing colours, textures and details first-hand and bring these experiences directly into her work.

Working with carefully chosen fibres, yarns and colour combinations, Isobelle transforms her handwoven textiles into unique, wearable pieces. Each piece celebrates colour, texture, craftsmanship and the possibilities of weaving on an intimate scale.
