Overview of organisation vision, mission and objectives

Farfield Mill is a restored Victorian Woollen Mill built in 1836 which was converted to preserve the heritage of the building, and develop exhibition spaces, learning spaces and affordable artist/ maker studios. In 2018 we became a Community Benefit Society with almost 700 shareholders. We are run as a non-for-profit organisation.

Our vision is of a community space where the heritage of craft and textiles are celebrated, developed, and revitalized for a contemporary audience.

Our mission is to tell the story textiles (specifically wool), the social history of traditional craft within our local community while enabling the continuation and development of these rural heritage crafts and skills for future generations, helping to diversify and support the local economy.

Our objectives are to engage with the public through dynamic heritage exhibits and creative learning opportunities in traditional and contemporary art and craft, to support local and emerging artists and makers, by providing provide affordable open studios and gallery spaces for local artists, textile art and contemporary craft.

Farfield Mill is a free entry venue open Wednesday to Sunday 10:30am – 4:00pm
