Komorebi – Natasha Armstrong

This artwork is inspired by sunlight which dapples through trees, and the juxtaposition of colour and movement between leaves. I hope to recreate that dazzling feeling that is evoked when you are almost blinded by a multitude of colours dancing above.
The piece is made of handmade felt. The leaf sections are made of sheets of felt which I have dyed naturally with black bean, rosemary, madder and logwood. These are used to cut the shapes for the leaves. I then over printed with a screen print design using madder print paste. The technique that I used to create this artwork is extremely rewarding, as the process entails many challenges.
I want to showcase the possibilities of using felt in a thoughtful and original manner.
