Fannie Lee – I Matter
Fannie is a first-generation Chinese American woman. Her work reflects the differences as well as the commonality of two cultures. She is a descendant of women who make garments, sew, repair and mend fabric. Fabric and fibre are part of every culture and are a part of the collages she makes.
In recent years her work has evolved, and her focus has been woven tapestry. She is experimenting with tapestry basics and techniques. It has been a journey and there is so much to learn and play with.
This tapestry, “I” Matter is a result of the isolation and response to the anti-Asian sentiment during the pandemic.
