Anna Wetherell – A Shaft of Light
Rivers are an important feature of the Farfield Mill landscape – sources of power, routeways for transporting goods to and fro, characteristic features of the local landscape and home to much biodiversity – a key element of our textile heritage.
Walking along the river downstream of the Mill one day, I was lucky enough to see a shaft of light piercing the water and hitting the river bed. It became the spark of an idea for an abstract tapestry. How often have Mill workers caught sight of something similar – or were the waters more muddied back in the day?
