I enjoy experimenting with printmaking and combining media in novel ways. This series of prints is entitled Net Zero. It starts with a straightforward screen-printed image of Sizewell B nuclear power station in Suffolk, England, near where I used to live. The second and third prints are the charred remains of the glass firing process in the kiln – the shelf paper placed under the glass sheet has received a negative image from the image on the glass from the heat process, creating a kind of thermal heliogram. The allusions to the devastation caused by nuclear power are obvious, making the phrase Net Zero savagely ironic.
