Small Stitches – Sue Bibby

9 April – 13 July 2025

Sue Bibby works from her home studio in Moseley, Birmingham where she creates individually embroidered pieces using free machine and hand embroidery techniques.
Embroidery is the perfect way to combine a passion for drawing and stitch, allowing her to work in detail using thread and fabric. The sewing machine needle becomes the pencil and the fabric a canvas!

Keeping a sketchbook is a vital part of her practise. Through mixed media experimentation and observational studies she can gather and develop ideas and collect information for future reference. Much of her inspiration comes from the natural world and a collection of illustrated vintage books which provide a wealth of ideas and stimulus.

She has more recently created small bird sculptures using traditional raised embroidery.
