Momentum… Memories, Journeys and Times – Sandra Meech and Elizabeth Brimelow

Elizabeth Brimelow and Sandra Meech bring different art and stitch approaches for this exhibition based on personal memories, journeys, and experiences. They share sketchbook inspiration; a collection of small textile works moments.
Sandra Meech is from Canada and now lives in Sommerset; Elizabeth Brimelow was born in Karachi, Pakistan and is based in Macclesfield, Cheshire. They first met on a bench outside the Victoria and Albert Museum, started a conversation, and have been friends and exhibiting artist together ever since. Sandra uses water as he common element in her work – flooding on the Somerset levels, water as ice, work based on the effects of climate change in Eastern Greenland.
Elizabeth’s subject is her environment – local walks with sketchbook or camera in hand, collecting findings as inspiration for work, she also makes use of gifted fabrics from friends, which presents its own challenge, but brings back happy memories.
