The Universal Language of Plastic – Suzanne Knight Australia
Plastic bottles exist in all languages, on all supermarket, kitchen, and laundry shelves. But do we think about where they go once, they are empty? During recent years we’ve purchased more and more plastic bottles containing disinfectants, chemicals and antiseptics, to scrub away a virus, washing these liquids down our sinks, sending empty bottle onto our beaches, into our oceans.
In this work Suzanne has translated words such as plastic, disinfectant and sterilise from different languages, then cut up and jumbled the letters, to create a new language.
These bottles depict the universal language of pandemic, consumerism and waste.
