Still Morning – Joan Baxter UK
This tapestry is part of a cycle of work inspired by the landscape of remote West Highland sea loch. Joan spent some of her childhood there and recently re-visited after almost 50 years.
They are a love strong to the landscape, that she now realises has been hard wired into her brain since childhood. These works attempt to capture the quiet joy of rediscovering places and things that she thought she had lost and forgotten. They represent the magical, transcendent moments of stillness that sometimes occur just before sunrise, just after sunset before sunrise, just after sunset and when the tide is turning.
