Seasons – Jane Rollanson
For ‘Metamorphosis ‘ I was inspired by the ever – changing cycles of nature, and the colours of the seasons affecting the leaves.
I sought to capture this transformation in textile form
This textile piece embodies transformation of seasons through its intricate blend of natural dyes, eco- printed and machine quilting. The organic patterns and earthy tones evoke the cycles of nature, while the all over quilting design adds texture and depth.
Inspired by the fleeting beauty of leaves, I used natural dyes and eco printing to imprint the fabric with the subtle language of earth.
The eco printing process allows leaves to leave their impressions, creating a unique and ephemeral work of art. Natural dyes derived from plants and minerals, enhance the pieces connection to the environment, where life, decay and renewal intertwine.
The machine quilting adds a contemporary touch, highlighting the contrast between nature’s organic forms and human innovation.
This piece celebrates the Metamorphosis of natural materials into a work of art.
