Metamorphosis from DNA to Frog – Julie Vaughan
Each panel represents a stage of the metamorphosis of a frog. From DNA , fertilisation of an egg, to tadpole and spawn and then the final transformation into a fully formed frog.
I had lots of balls of wool! The idea of a metamorphosis of my scraps of wool and fibres into a picture representing a metamorphosis appealed to me. I used bright colours to represent DNA and then used a ‘strand of DNA ‘ to continue through each panel. The bright colours continue in the starburst of fertilisation and then we move into the pond and see the frog spawn and tadpoles in the more muted colours of the water. The final panel shows the fully metamorphosed frog leaping and showing off its colours of browns and green.
