May You Have Fish Every Year – Donghua Pang
“May You Have Fish Every Year» is inspired by the Chinese word play ” 年年有鱼. In spoken Chinese, it sounds exactly like “May you be prosperous every year”. By combining Chinese painting composition with the traditional Japanese fish-rubbing technique gyotaku, I want to express that no matter who we are and where we live – our happiness and fortune are linked to the well-being and future of the ocean. May we all protect it.
