Margaret Bennett – Squeeze Gap
For many years I have walked the fells and dales of Durham and North Yorkshire. On these walks I have come to appreciate the skill and workmanship that goes into building a dry-stone wall.
They are a defining feature of the sheep farming landscape. Miles of dry-stone walls enclosing fields, with the occasional gap or ‘squeeze’, to allow the walker through but not the sheep.
