Lynn Fotheringham
I live and work in on the Cumbria/Lancashire border. I make acrylic and mixed media abstract paintings using memory, my own photography and my experiences of the wild and wonderful places that we have in the north west of England and Scotland.
In the ‘Out of the Earth’ paintings the first thing that I thought about was ‘ what’s happening down there, underneath my feet?’ I live in a limestone area so decided that I was probably living on top of underground caves. These paintings are full of layers and partially hidden details, a little like the earth beneath us. They are paintings to take us home to the earth and, ideally, warm the heart.
Lynn spent many years working as a wallcovering and textile designer and also specialised in abstract landscape photography, before returning to painting a few years ago.
