Janet Moore (USA) – Confluence
“Confluence” represents and memorializes the joining of waters that takes place in the lives of rivers, great and small. One river races to another, a larger river flows and receives tributaries. Confluence Point marks the place and moment of meeting between the Mississippi and Missouri Rivers.
These rivers have varied color waters and move at different paces, and sometimes these waters appear as ribbons of color, twining around each other, and finally weaving a greater body between them. My new home in Saint Louis, Missouri is sited at this juncture.
The confluence marks the spot where histories have played out, explorations have begun. The great river systems of North America are accessible from this site, allowing movement from west to east, north to south. Even though fully exploited, there is still great beauty to be observed here while contemplating the flow of one’s own life.
