Eileen Anderson
I enjoy the freedom of putting paint down on a surface without being constrained by representation, at least in the early stages of a painting. Hints of landscape and birds might creep in towards the end, but the aim is always to create with freedom, to retain the energy of the mark making and to adopt a more playful approach.
I work on a series of three or four paintings at a time, gradually building up layers within the picture and responding to the marks created in order to move the work forward.
