Dot Seddon – Another One Bites the Dust
This image comes from my history and my memory. I saw quite a few mills and their chimneys being demolished as the Lancashire cotton industry was decimated. I was born and brought up in Leigh, a once thriving, lively cotton and coal town.
My dad started working in the mill on his 13th birthday and stayed there for 50 years. I have many happy memories of going to meet him to walk home for tea. I had free range of the mill as long as I kept away from the moving mule frames – the smell of raw cotton and oil is one I’ll never forget.
