Diana Morrison – Textile Artist
Diana’s work consists of hand-dyed printed, felted, and embroidered textiles using a variety of experimental techniques. Colour and surface pattern are a key part of Diana’s work which is inspired by the natural environment. Designs on her brooches are done free-hand using the sewing machine needle as a drawing instrument and finishing off with hand dyeing to highlight details. Book covers are printed using disperse dyes which are painted onto paper before being transferred to fabric by heat process using cut paper and found objects as a resist method to create a pattern.
