Défenseur du Royaume : Un Autoportrait D’Enfance

This quilt illustrates a poem I wrote for this challenge in which Red Riding Hood, the defender of the realm, learns an important lesson for life. Red Riding Hood casts her golden thread, taming the invading dragon threatening her childhood dream land.
At first, my interpretation with its golden thread unspooling from the needle, appears quite literal but with closer inspection the quilt reveals clues and symbols that suggest a larger message. Red Riding Hood is delivering a basket of promises, things she will care about in the future. She runs through an enchanted forest. A protective field of blue fairy light surrounds her while she skips over clouds harbouring monsters below while danger threatens overhead.
