Chasing Butterflies – Emma Hodgson
I am a felt maker, creating both wet felted and needle felted pieces. The one entered is a needle felted sculpture with embroidered base.
I lost my beloved hairy daughter, Pepper, age only 8 years old to nasal cancer. One of her very favourite things to do was to chase butterflies. Pepper crossed rainbow bridge in 2022, and it took 2 years for me to gather the strength to create a fitting tribute to my best friend. “Until we meet again, go chase butterflies in the sky!
My needle felted sculpture is created using 100% combed wool fibres with a wire armature for strength. The wool base is embroidered using wool and cotton threads. It is secured onto a wooden slice base for stability.
