William is interested in texture within tapestry weaving. The long shape of his piece occurred as he grew more interesting the possibilities of dark functional yarns working with textures beside passages of arm coloured weaving.
In the end he extended the tapestry with wrapped warps after admiring Archie Brennan’s superb play on tasselling with his Scottish Arts council commission.
