In this exhibition Stuart explores Corvids, carrion-eating birds (crows, rooks, ravens etc). Stuart doesn’t think these birds are particularly liked as they’re very noisy and look a little sinister, but they are also very clever. Start believes they deserve a little positive press and hopefully this exhibition, will allow people to appreciate them more for the handsome creatures they are.
Stuart Gray has been an ‘illustrator’ and ‘graphic designer’ since leaving college in the early seventies. He has worked in several studios before becoming a lecturer at Wigan School for the Arts in 1994.
He retired from being a lecturer a few years ago and started to work with his partner Ruth Clayton in the successful art studio at Cedar Farm Galleries in Mawdesley, Lancashire teaching adults the basics of drawing and painting.
They closed the business in January 2016 and relocated to Sedbergh in Cumbria. He now works at Farfield mill in Sedbergh with Ruth where they have a studio behind the gallery. Stuart works with different media but his specialism is acrylic. He enjoys painting landscapes and still life and he has filled a fair number of sketchbooks over the years!
