Jill Brown – Mixed Media
Jill Brown is inspired by the rugged Cumbrian landscape where she grew up, as well as the local countryside where she now lives. The colours, textures, and history of these landscapes whether rural or urban provide a rich tapestry that she references in her mixed media pieces.
Always using photography as the foundation for her work, she enjoys experimenting with different surfaces and media.
Jill’s method of working often involves locational or historical research, and a strong personal connection to a sense of place underpins her practice to convey a narrative. The research is often as important as the final artwork itself.
The lampshades embrace all of the above and are developed to her own designs. They are then printed onto panama cotton in Staffordshire and each shade is then handmade by Jill.
