Jan Beadle- Becoming a Weaver
New Dates -14/15 Sept 2017
£100 plus £5 materials on the day
If you know the basics, maybe set up your own loom and weave some patterns, or have never done any weaving before and would love to have a go, this is the course for you! The two day course will take you through the whole process of winding a warp and dressing a loom to weaving your cloth. Jan will provide you with all the tips, tricks and techniques to ease your path into weaving.
Angharad Thomas - Knitting 'hand in glove with heritage'
Sunday 15th October
£55 plus £5 if you want to buy 100gms (2x50g) of double knitting wool on the day
This workshop will cover the techniques needed to knit gloves in 2 colours; though there won't be time to complete a glove, you will start making a simple hand warmer using these techniques, to complete afterwards.
Participants should EITHER have knitted with 2 colours OR knitted in the round, this workshop is not suitable for beginners.
Ruth Kidd- Autumn Wood
Saturday 21 October £50 plus £5 materials on the day
Have you ever wanted to paint using watercolours? Come and join Ruth as she guides you through a step by step process to paint your own masterpiece. All abilities are welcome whether you want to develop your artistic abilities or find your inner artist! Ruth will frame your artwork ready for you to take home to impress your friends and family.
Jan Beadle- 4 Shaft Honeycomb
Tuesday 24 October £50 plus £5 materials on the day.
Honeycomb weaving creates cell like structures which resemble the bee's honeycomb. creates a lovely soft furnishing fabric.
Suitable for beginners and more experienced wanting to develop their skills. Looms will be set up ready to go!
Ruth Clayton - Felting character workshop

Ali Sharman - Weave a Cafetiere Cosy for Christmas
Sunday 18 November 2017- £50 plus £5 for materials
Resident artist Ali Sharman will lead this workshop. Come along to the Mill and weave a Cafetiere cosy, and if you have time somemug mats to go with it. The looms will be set up and ready to go.
No experience required.
Duration Workshops run 10.30am to 4.30pm - and you can usually gain access to set up from 10.15am.
Location Workshops are held in our dedicated Education Room on Level 2, or in the Bainside Studio on Level 4.
Lunch You can buy a delicious lunch made on the premises using local produce in Weavers Café (with viewing window into the Weaving Room). Alternatively, you can bring a packed lunch to eat in the workshop room (we would ask you not to eat your packed lunch in the Café, please).
Drinks Fresh coffee and tea is available for you to make throughout the day in the kitchen adjacent to your workshop space.
