Stuart Gray- Stormy Skies

Have you ever wanted to capture the elements at their most dramatic? Come and join Stuart as he guides you through a step by step process to paint your own masterpiece. All abilities are welcome whether you want to develop your artistic abilities or find your inner artist! Stuart will frame your artwork ready for you to take home to impress your friends and family.


Jan Beadle- Weaving Tartan

Thursday 4 May £50 plus £5 for materials on the day

These patterns are hugely popular at the moment, so come and weave your own contemporary twist on Tartan. This will suit an absolute beginner or those with a little more experience wanting to come and develop their understanding of how to design their own unique fabric.

The 4 shaft looms will be set up and ready to go.


Caren Threlfall - Felt Corsages

Tuesday 9 May £25 (3 Hrs)

During this 3hr workshop you will make colourful felt flower corsages using wet felting and needle felting techniques which we can attach a brooch pin or hairclips. They will brighten up any outfits.


Jan Beadle - Herringbone Tweed Weaving

Thursday 1 June £50 plus £5 materials on the day

So let's create some fabric using the classic Herringbone Tweed pattern. This will suit an absolute beginner and those with a little more experience wanting to explore Herringbone Tweed. The 4 shaft looms will be set up and ready to go. 


Caren Threlfall - Felt Pictures for children

Saturday 20 May £10 (2.5 hrs) for children

A fun workshop, where you can create a beautiful picture using wet felting and needle felting techniques.


Peter Threlfall - Painting the Howgills

Tuesday 6 June £50 please bring your own paints, brushes and paper if you have them.

Come and enjoy a day of instruction with this talented local artist, who has exhibited many times at Farfield Mill. You can currently see some of his work in Weavers Cafe here at the Mill.


Ruth Kidd- Mackintosh style Flowers

Wednesday 19 July £50 plus £5 materials on the day

Reproduce your own Mackintosh styled art work. Ruth Will provide a selection of fresh flowers for you to work from and guide you through a step by step process to paint your own masterpiece. Jan Beadle- Becoming a Weaver

Thurs 10 & Fri 11 August £100 plus £5 materials on the day

If you know the basics, maybe set up your own loom and weave some patterns, or have never done any weaving before and would love to have a go, this is the course for you! The two day course will take you through the whole process of winding a warp and dressing a loom to weaving your cloth. Jan will provide you with all the tips, tricks and techniques to ease your path into weaving.


Ruth Kidd- Autumn Wood

All abilities are welcome whether you want to develop your artistic abilities or find your inner artist! Ruth will frame your artwork ready for you to take home to impress your friends and family.


KEY INFORMATION

Duration  Workshops run 10.30am to 4.30pm - and you can usually gain access to set up from 10.15am.

Location  Workshops are held in our dedicated Education Room on Level 2, or in the Bainside Studio on Level 4.

Lunch  You can buy a delicious lunch made on the premises using local produce in Weavers Café (with viewing window into the Weaving Room). Alternatively, you can bring a packed lunch to eat in the workshop room (we would ask you not to eat your packed lunch in the Café, please).

Drinks  Fresh coffee and tea is available for you to make throughout the day in the kitchen adjacent to your workshop space.

Accommodation  If you are staying over, there are many delightful B&Bs and guest houses in Sedbergh and the surrounding area - contact Sedbergh Tourist Information Centre online or call 015396 20125.
