Find the Knitting Sheep

The knitting sheep has hidden pictures of himself all over the Mill!! You must search over four floors to find the answers to his clues and if you succeed, you win a fruity, sweetie treat.

Help make the biggest knitted snake in the world...! Try your hand at French knitting on our giant bobbin – and let's see how long we can make the knitted snake over the summer holidays!!

Heritage Open Days

Sat 11 & Sun 12 Sept, 10.30am – 5pm (free entry for all) - ACTIVITIES FROM 11AM-4PM

Did you know that kids as young as 7 had to work at Farfield Mill during Victorian times? We promise we won't make you clean out the turbine - just come along and join us for our open heritage days this September: decorate your own cup cake, find out about the history of the mill, listen to the Sedbergh Town Band and lots more... Come in Victorian costume and be in with a chance of winning the 'Best costume of the day' prize!! And find out if yours is one of the winning sheep in The Farfield Flock.

Most activities are happening all day both days.

Specific timings include:

Sedbergh Town Band will be at the Mill in the Howgill gallery from 1pm on Sunday.

Story tellin for 6yrs and under 12 noon in the Howgill both Saturday and Sunday

Green Door Studios 6th annual Art Trail

24th - 26th Sept

Over 30 artists and craft makers throughout the South Lakes area are opening their studios to the public, including four of our Resident Artists - Rebecca Callis (thrown ceramics), Rachel Greenbank (painting), Mary Taylor (stitched textiles) and Mo Wallis (fused and stained glass). 

 

Included in the wider trail are painters, sculptors, printmakers, ceramic artists, textile artists, jewelry and glassmakers.
